The wonderful ramblings of my mentalness
Am I boring??

I think I must be. I can never really think what to write, and when I do think of something, I hardly get any replies! The only time I got loads was with that whole "deleted" thing, which is not really a great thing to add to my JoeUser CV...
Contemplating writing some rude words and marking this adult content! I suppose I would at least get hits that way
I don't quite know what stance to take on this one really. Do I open my heart more? I did that before and got flamed by a few... (but I won't forget the ones who supported me). I write about my day, and get virtually ignored! Maybe I need to do more stuff. The problem is that I'm not really interested in politics, my music taste is nothing like anyone elses (except maybe through eclecticness - is that a word? Doubt it!), and I really don't have a social life. If I start talking about what I do of an evening with the few friends I do have, then I'm bound to put a few off. Then again, it might boost my ratings a little... who knows? I actually shrugged then! Woh is me...
I can't say I'm particularly bothered with this Sir Peter Maxwell chap. Some people are taking him as a joke, which is what he is, but others seem to be taking him seriously, which he certainly is not! It does't bother me either way, but it seems odd that he riles so many people up with so little!
Maybe what I write just comes out wrong. It does most of the time when I speak, especially when I'm nervous. I forget my train of thought half way through a sentence! Reading back, most of this already seems boring. What am I doing wrong?! I suppose it could be to do with a lack of sleep and a bunged up nose, but I can't use those excuses all the time
Oh well. Life goes on.

Hmm, since I don't know you, I can't say whether you are boring or not. So chin up!
As for comments and replies, I hardly get any either. But that's not why I do the blog thing anyway.

Thank you LaVoix! I really don't understand why everyone gets hung up on this 'points' thing, especially seeing as how (thus far to my observation) they do two things: Jack and Shit. I come here to blog because it helps relieve the stress of my day...some days i"m not that stressed, or don't have anything to write, so I don't. It's like a journal, it's theraputic. It also helsp you hone your writing skills. Abraham Lincoln once said "Of course I keep a journal. Every man needs something intriguing to read on long train rides."
I like to look back at my entries...not to see how many replies I get (though, admittedly, I do like getting replies) but to see how I was feeling that day. Most of my entries are very rough drafts, so I don't neccesarrily like the way they're written, but I like to see the potential in them.

Thank you guys. As you say, Unfairman, I like getting replies. The points are just an extra bonus! I' d like to know that I can have people want to read what I've got to say 'cos it makes me feel a little better, and not a boring old fart with nothing better to do than waffle on about my boring day/night. I shall keep on blogging and I can only hope I get less boring (amd maybe more widely read!) as time goes on
Thanks for your comments!

I think it's because what you write is too personal. Writing controversial things or topics asking for interaction from others will definitely get more replies. If you do something that'll put people off, then I'm sure that'll gather replies too! It comes down to if you want to do that or not.

But if I get all "im-personal", then doesn't that imply even more boring?? Of course I want interaction from others! That is one of the reasons I write on here. I'm just not sure how to go about it yet. I suppose I'm still finding my niche

I like reading your stuff, and when I see your blogs I always look forward to reading them, but like super said, your blogs don't really invite comment. Keep writing though, and I'll try to let you know that I'm reading.

One of the main reasons that I think that some get few comments is because no one really is aware of you. One way to make others at JU aware that you exist is to respond to other bloggers. Alot of people don't bother to read other blogs unless a title may happen to catch their eye. Then some read other blogs but they don't comment. When you comment on other blogs then the blogger that wrote the blog will see your name there and that you left a comment. This makes them curious as to just who you are and why you read their blog. It compels them to look you up and find out more about you. To do this they need to read your blogs. Make sense? GCJ

Yeah, makes sense! I do try to comment if I can. I try to make myself known! Problem is that I only go on JU once or twice a week so...
Cheers for your comments guys, they're really helpful!

I try really hard to stay away from anything contraversial because I don't see the point in argument. I mean, if both sides are going to get dogmatic, what's the point?
That said, I have recently posted an article on Michael Jackson which may inspire some disagreement. We'll see what happens.
GemCityJoe had a point too. I wouldn't have visited his site if he hadn't commented in mine. That said, I seem to maintain a reasonably high score without commenting in THAT many blogs.
Sometimes I have comments inside me, but I don't think that they're worth "publishing" in blog form.

If you are blogging for the purpose of gaining attention, i think you are in the wrong area.
If people paying attention to you matters so much, perhaps you should be a rock star or something.
If you think you are boring then you probably are. Its in your head.
BAM!!!

Yeah I agree, keep blogging, keep responding, and keep it up. I looked at some of your articles because of this one, realize that I have read a few, but neglected to comment. Usually, as far as the comments go, I reply if it really strikes me as being necessary. I think the key is consistency if you are looking at scoring points. It looks as if you've been blogging as long as I have, but I think I have three times the entries. Now, I am not a big fan of reproducing other people's work. Jokes, pictures, citations from other places all are fine, within reason. There are a few exceptions. GJC actually posts interesting pics that elicit good comment and there is some intent behind it than just rackin em up.
If you want to score big points.... generally either be an asswhole and start sprouting biggoted, strident articles or take a look at some of the most popular blogs running around. Imitation might get you more. I like your idea better though, write what you want to write... people will read and respond the more often that you post.
