So it's boxing day night, and here I am at work surprise surprise! I'm sure you're all getting used to my weird ways of working by now...

Had my parents over for lunch today. My partner's a chef, so he did the cooking while I was sleeping after working last night. We don't have a big house, so we had to squeeze the garden table in the front room so we could all sit down to eat - normally we eat off out laps in front of the tv! So, anyway, he says it's all ready and brings out what he suspiciously names the 1st course. It was lovely: scrambled egg and smoked salmon, made with loads of butter and cream. We polished that off, then he said he'd bring out the 2nd course.

We were expecting the main meal, but no. We got a second starter of soup! Again, lovely (more cream...), but I was already nearly full! I didn't eat all of it cos I knew that I woudn't eat any of the rest of the food otherwise. Dad was sneaky and said he didn't want any... lol

Then came the main course. Mine was chicken in a white sauce with loads of veggies, and some roasted new potaoes. Mums was pan fried plaice, with a caper sauce, and the same veggies. Dads was steak and ale pie, with mustard mash, and veg. And my Finton's was cod, with various veg and other bits and pieces (not sure!). He said he put some chilli's in his, then took two mouthfuls and declared that it was far too hot to eat! He ended up with a bowl of leftover pie filling... I managed about 3 mouthfuls of mine before I thought I was going to explode...

I suppose thats what you get if you're used to serving food to 100s of people at a time, instead of 4! We were going to have dessert, but decided against it after that! Unfortunately, during the rest of the afternoon, I got a very dodgy stomach, and was on the toilet for a long time so Mum and Dad had to go early... but that's life for you.

So, that was my boxing day. I'm so tired now, it's stupid. I slept after Mum and Dad went, but still feel like I could sleep another full night now. Only 7 hours to go until I finish my shift!

Anyway, hope you all had a good Christmas, and a happy a new year to everyone!

In reply to deleted (which I have deleted!), I'd like to see you prove it. If you comment like that on my blogs again, I will report you.

I don't know anything about boxing day except when I was growing up we had two English borders and they would talk about it. I thought, "Why do people want to get up and fight each other the day after Christmas?" Now, years later, I feel lucky when I DON'T end up wanting to fight someone the day after Christmas

Boxing day has never meant a huge amount to me. It was just a day near Christmas when we could have my parents round for dinner!
